As I’ve written before, Osteria Stellina in Point Reyes Station in Marin, is a firm favorite. Reliably good, locally sourced food from oysters to fresh greens to meat, it’s a great place to take visitors from near and far. This weekend, we were thrilled to have family visiting from Hong Kong. They live in a world far, far away from our rolling green hills, grazing cows, cheese-makers and artisanal bakeries. As they’d spent the past few days doing more touristy things and eating typical touristy fare like clam chowder and burgers and fries, I was eager to show them what Northern California cuisine is really all about.
I won’t waste more space with words, just take a look for yourself at how delicious our lunch was.
Not pictured, we also tucked into a sausage pizza and gelato made from water buffalo milk and cream: the pistachio was particularly good. With three kids in tow, pizza and ice cream made for the perfect “happy” meal, not to mention the blank paper and crayons which kept everyone busy until their food arrived. If you still haven’t checked this spot out, now’s the perfect time. The drive in – either from south Marin or Sonoma Co. – is gorgeous. The recent rains have been just enough to fuel a powerful burst of green growth. Enjoy!
